Audi R8 V10 Plus Dealer Edition || In-Depth Review

The AUDI R8 is my all-time favorite supercar. The love is such that, I have 7 Audi R8's in my collection so far and another one is coming soon. Since most of my collection is back home and I have access to a very few models that I purchase here, I haven't been uploading many reviews. Let's get straight into the extensive review of the model.


The Audi R8 needs no introduction since I have talked a lot about it in many of my previous blog posts. It has a V10 engine with a 610hp in the plus version. The scale model here is a 1:18 scale V10 plus in the beautiful vegas yellow (and my favorite shade on the R8 too). It is a dealer edition since it came in an Audi Sports official box. Though the brand is supposed to be iScale (only they had the vegas yellow version and later was discontinued), but the box clearly has Kyosho Deutschland Gmbh. Not sure if iScale is a subsidiary company.


Starting with the huge plus point of this model, the paint quality. It is simply amazing and reflects light perfectly. There are no paint rashes or any signs of unpainted edges in this specific model. The front hood shut line is a little large, but for a model at this price point, you cannot expect minimalistic gaps. Looking at the front of the car, all the grills are solid plastic and does not have any photo etched meshes in place. The headlights are well detailed but the bottom half of the LED strip seems to be a bit offset.


Nice touch to the overall front face is the plastic piece that surrounds the grill, chromed. The Audi logo is more or less a sticker. A tiny Quattro logo is placed in the front which actually elevates the model.

The side of the car is well proportioned. It has the very famous blades on the side in carbon fiber trim. The fuel cap is a separate piece, which is a nice touch. The front of the car seems to be a little raised compared to the rear. Also on close observation at the front wheels, they seem to not align to the center of the wheel wells.  


The rear of the car feels a bit low in detail. Solid plastic again for the rear vents, the tailpipes are also just solid plastic, wish they had a little more detailing for these tailpipes. The rear spoiler seems solid and has the carbon fiber touch to it. The best part is the rear diffuser that they have replicated well and has given a little better feel of the whole model. The tail lights do not seem to be that well detailed but throw some light onto them and you can see that they have actually tried but the plastic cover is just too dark. The Audi logo and the R8 badge are not photo etched. 


It has full access to the engine, front trunk, and the interior. The front trunk has dog legs but is supported by struts. the rear engine hatch is just a piece of transparent plastic that opens with the help of the struts. 


The engine bay is well finished. Though it looks dull, it has the carbon fibre all around the bay which elevates the dull engine. The engine itself seems to be on par with the likes of other Kyosho models. It is one of the best details I have seen in this price range. 


The interior is really well detailed. Bang for the buck. Pedals have the metal finish, all the buttons seemed to be present with protrusions in the plastic bits. They tried to replicate the virtual cockpit of the original R8 as well. 


The 10 spoke signature rims on the R8 are replicated well. Nice touch with the lettering on the brake calipers. Though on this specific piece, the wheels do not sit perfectly onto the rims (both front and back left wheels have this issue). 

Overall it is worth the price paid for for the quality it provides with opening bits. They have stopped the production of these specific models I guess since they are hard to find in the market. if you do come across one make sure to grab one.
